VoIP phone service is a great blessing for all the phone users. There are many good names in the VoIP industry that offer excellent quality phone service that is well worth your money. Today we have chosen Axvoice and Packet 8 for comparison. This review has been done in light of the experiences that I have had with different VoIP providers in the past. It will let you have an idea of which service you should prefer among the two.

Reliable phone calls

When it comes to using a phone, the first thing that comes to mind is the quality of the phone calls. I have friends in Mexico and France. I grabbed the opportunity to call friends in both these countries. The overall difference in call quality was minor. Packet 8 seemed to deliver good voice quality but still it went shaky at times. However, talking on Axvoice for international calls was more of a smooth ride without any hiccups or problems to mention. I overall feel that the call quality of local calls in the US and Canada was the same for both these services without any noticeable differences to mention.

Reliability of service

Phone service reliability is different from the call quality but many people think of them as the same. Reliability means that your phone service is ready to serve you whenever you want to use it. I have had Axvoice and Packet 8 installed for months. There weren’t any issues relating reliability. Each time I used any of them; there weren’t any disconnections or other problems that prevented me from using them. In terms of reliability, they both offer the same kind of user experience.

Setting up the phone

Setting up of a phone is not considered anything big or important, that is why many people don’t recognize its importance. However, my personal experience is that there can be problems faced by the users in setting up the phone. I have used many internet phone services in the past and have faced problems. While setting up Axvoice and Packet 8, I found a remarkable difference. It went straight when I set up Axvoice because the procedures were same as in any other VoIP ATA. On contrary Packet 8 needed a bit manhandling done its settings as it had to be configured according to the type of internet connection I had. But eventually I was able to set it up. However, I think new VoIP user will face some trouble setting Packet 8 up.

Service features offered

When we talk about VoIP phones, we are usually considering the features of service offered. Compare any two good internet phone services and you will find them pretty much the same. When I compared Axvoice with Packet 8, there weren’t any significant differences between the two in terms of features. I can only say that both were pretty much the same.

Calling rates

Calling rates of both Axvoice and Packet 8 are very similar for the local calls. There aren’t any bigger differences to talk about. Both offer high value for money call plans to make local calls. But international call rates differ a lot. In spite of the fact that Packet 8 is a big name, still it overcharges its customers for international phone calls. I wonder why they are so expensive when compared with Axvoice.

The overall experience that I had with both Axvoice and Packet 8 was very good. However, when looking closely, I found Axvoice much more convenient to use, and lower international call rates which attract me more towards it.
