SMS Discount which is a part of Betamax was providing this cheap service but unfortunately they had increased the calling rates to India. Today I am here to tell you an alternate Betamax service known as WebCallDirect. It is so cheap that it offers calling at only 2 eurocents per minute.
Since SMS Discount have increased its calling rates to India from 2 eurocents to 2.5 eurocents many Betamax user were quite upset but to WebCallDirect is a better competitor to SMS Discount and will serve the purpose of cheap calling to India. WebCallDirect can be used with VOIP adapter or Even with any latest available SIP phones. To use SIP phones you need to make the following settings for WebCallDirect.
SIP port : 5060
Registrar : sip.webcalldirect.net
Proxy server: sip.webcalldirect.net
Outbound proxy server : leave empty
Account name : your Webcalldirect username
Password : your Webcalldirect password
Display name/number : your Webcalldirect username or voipnumber
Stunserver (option) : stun.webcalldirect.net
Also if you want to make cheap calls to India then you can even try out CallEasy which provides calling at just 2 eurocents per minute to landline or mobile any where in India.
If you are hoping for a better audio quality then I suggest you to use G.711 codec.
